The Trials and Tribulations of a Novice Airplane Kit Builder
3/1-7/2009 - 11 HoursDid quite a few things in the past week. Thanks to Vans and Chad Jensen, I will no longer need to order a top skin. Vans instructed me to start clecoing at the forward edge of the top skin. As I started, I immediately seen my mistake. I had originally assembled the F-706 bulkhead incorrectly. With Chad's help, we fixed that and then fit the top skin and then I drilled it later that night to include the F-707B angle clip and the F-787 stiffener web. Next up was baggage area stuff. Side panels (F-749/F-750), F-748 center tunnel cover and everything associated with the F-751 and F-652 baggage bulkheads. Quite a bit of platenuts to be installed and I did them all with the Main Squeeze. I rarely use this as I prefer the pneumatic but I didn't want an inadvertent slip of the finger triggering the pnuematic while bent over and reaching inside the plane. I also removed the top skins and started the debur/dimple process. I have a pile of stuff shelved for priming as well. 3/8-18/2009 - 16 HoursMany small things accomplished.
